Chief Geologist

GMS Mine Repair has a great opportunity for a Chief Geologist with our client who is a leading mine site near Reno, Nevada. This is a long-term/ permanent hire opportunity that will require relocation/ commute to site location. The Chief Geologist is responsible for directing and leading the Geology Team with a primary focus on production activities, specifically including grade control, resource modeling, underground reserve replacement drilling and hydrogeological related activities.
Responsibilities
Coordination of Geology Team activities to safely and timely meet business needs
Develop, implement, and oversee an effective and transparent grade control program
Accountable for safe, timely and on budget execution of drilling programs
Accountable for hydrogeological model and related study work and data collection
Assist with and facilitate open pit and district exploration activities
Designated Qualified Professional for Mineral Reserve and Resource estimates, including results certification
Accountable for company’s drillhole and sample management system
Facilitate inter-departmental coordination to ensure clear and open communication
Jointly responsible for providing Life of Mine plan development guidance
Accountable for all Mineral Resource models
Responsible for ensuring the business develops an ongoing and increasing better understanding of local and district geology
Accountable for all Geology Team related financial matters
Responsible for Grade Control Reconciliation Program

Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, or equivalent
Fifteen to twenty (15-20) years total professional experience with:
Combined 10 years of leadership and production mining experience, preferred
Experience in skarn and base metal deposits, preferred
Mineral exploration experience well regarded
In-depth knowledge of drillhole, grade control systems and reconciliation program
Strong computer skills in geological modeling software
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, required
Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this position, required
Registration as a Professional Geologist
Job Specifications
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (40 hours basic)
Pay Rate: $100k – 150,000 Annually Starting (Based on Experience)
