Senior Mining Engineer (Underground)

GMS Mine Repair has a great opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer with our client who is a leading mine site near Reno, Nevada. This is a long-term/ permanent hire opportunity that will require relocation/ commute to site location. The Senior Mining Engineer is responsible for all mine engineering activities in support of the successful operation of the Pumpkin Hollow Mine, as well as development of related engineering standards and processes.
Responsibilities
The Senior Mining Engineer reports to the Chief Mine Engineer on all aspects of administrative and technical operations.
Responsible for leading the Mine Engineering Team, including Engineers and Technicians, covering multiple engineering disciplines.
Maintain healthy, open, and collaborative relationship with operational groups
Coordinate engineering activities to proactively support mine operations
Ensure engineering deliverables are provided on-time and in-full to support operations
Provision of expert advise to the operation as well as to technical staff
Primary reviewer and approver of all mine engineering work
Mentoring of junior staff and other technical staff as required
Development and implementation of mine planning, engineering and related systems and standards
Ensure short-range plans achieve long-range and / or business objectives
Coordination and delivery of monthly and three-month mine plans
Ensure timely and quality delivery of level and related mine plans
Development of mine plans as required to support short- and long-term business needs (e.g. 5 year mine plan, Life of Mine plan)
Owner of the mine ventilation model
Owner of the site mineral finance / cost model
Principal supplier of mine engineering inputs for mineral reserve and resource estimates
Responsible for delivering monthly production reconciliations
Execution of select projects and support of others’ projects
Paste and rock backfill planning and related quality assurance / quality control
Development and maintenance of mineral finance / cost models
Requirements
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Underground Mining Environment(Preferred)
Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Mining Engineering
Familiarity with relevant MSHA underground mining specific standards
Advanced used of Mine Planning software (Deswik preferred)
Previous mining construction and / or start-up experience (Preferred)
Registration as a Professional Engineer (Preferred)
Extensive experience in underground mine planning and operations
Experienced in long-hole open and sub-level stoping planning, drilling and blasting
Experienced in paste and rock backfilling of stopes
Mine dewatering and grouting experience
In-depth familiarity with CIM and SME mineral reserve and resource reporting standards
In-depth experience with Integrated Business Planning cycles
Material reconciliation experience from the Face to the Mill
Mine ventilation experience in hot environments
Mining operation in wet and hot environments
Exposure to rock mechanics as applicable to underground mining
Short-range mine planning, including level planning through to Cut Sheet development
Integrated long-range mine planning using mine planning software
Strong technical and communication skills
Estimation of underground Mineral Reserves and Resources
Ability to facilitate, collaborate and interact with individuals and groups
Continuous improvement tools and methodologies
Work Environment:
Comfortable in underground work environment
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in weight
Legally operate a vehicle typically requiring a Class 4 and/or 5 licenses
Periodically work in environmental extremes (i.e. hot or cold weather)
Job Specifications
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (40 hours basic)
Pay Rate: $70,000 - $98,000 Annually Starting (Based on Experience)
