Production Drift Mining for a Gold Mine near Elko, NV

Located in Nevada’s renowned Carlin Trend, GMS partnered with a leading gold producer to provide critical underground drift development for an active hard rock mining operation.

With a full fleet of specialized underground mining equipment and an unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency, the GMS team advanced multiple production drifts while helping the client keep operations on schedule in one of North America’s premier gold mining regions.

Purpose-Built Underground Development

Underground development requires precision, planning, and the right equipment for every stage of the mining cycle.

To complete this project, GMS mobilized double-boom jumbos, bolters, shotcrete sprayers, remixer trucks, muckers, and support equipment, giving crews the tools needed to efficiently advance headings while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Bolters reinforced the ribs and backs to stabilize newly excavated ground, while double-boom jumbos delivered accurate drilling to minimize overbreak, improve tunnel alignment, and prepare headings for future production, ventilation, and infrastructure.

Shotcrete application further strengthened underground openings, providing long-term structural support while helping crews safely advance to the next phase of development.
